What we offer

The site combines 22+ PDF tools in one place: compress and merge PDFs, convert between PDF, Word, and Excel, extract text, add watermarks, protect files with passwords, and generate business documents such as invoices and payslips.

Heavy conversions (PDF↔Office, OCR, Ghostscript compression) run on our cloud servers using open-source engines listed above. Lighter utilities may run entirely in your browser.

Why we built it

Most “free PDF converters” strip tables, drop logos, or fail on scanned documents. RatPDF was designed around layout fidelity: when a bank statement, GST invoice, or client proposal must look correct in Word or Excel, our multi-engine pipeline tries structured extraction first and falls back to high-resolution page rendering when necessary.

How file processing works

  1. You upload a file over encrypted HTTPS (TLS).
  2. Our servers process it in an isolated job (temporary disk + optional cloud storage for download).
  3. You receive a download link; background jobs delete stale files automatically.
  4. We do not sell uploaded documents or use them for advertising profiling.

Editorial content & E-E-A-T

We publish practical guides and comparisons — for example compressing PDFs without visible quality loss, PDF tool comparisons, and alternatives to iLovePDF and Smallpdf. See our editorial policy for how content is produced and reviewed.

Every guide lists a named author, reviewer, last-reviewed date, and primary sources. Meet the editorial team or visit the trust center for security and corrections policies.
